The word ERGONOMICS is derived from the Greek words, "ergos", which means work and "nomos", laws; which literally means "the laws of work”. Modern ergonomics is achieved by studying the physical movements and activities of people with the purpose of adapting products, systems, jobs and surroundings to these human characteristics, limitations and necessities. The goal of course is to achieve better design, security, and comfort.
The IDEAL CHAIR:
- The seat: The height of the seat must allow the user to fit in the chair so that their feet are in contact with the ground or the work surface and place the keyboard at a suitable height. It is important to also consider the different body types in humans. A small seat allows people with smaller frames the ability to utilize the back of the chair and remain comfortable, whereas a deep seat will feel more stable a person with a larger frame.
- The back of the chair: The good design of a chair can improve tension caused by sitting throughout the neck and back, although often tension is a result of poor posture.
- The armrests: The armrests are designed to give support to, of course, the arms, reducing the work of shoulders, elbows, and the forearm. Adjustable armrests help to avoid problems that can occur with people that are of varying height. Arm rests that are too high can push the shoulders higher and cause tension in the body, whereas, armrests that are too low force the user to sink in the chair of lean to the side in order to utilize the armrests thus causing bad posture.
Boss Ergonomic chairs help alleviate tension through their design. En general being seated can cause much tension throughout the body. The most relevant factors involved are disc compression forces and constant strain on the back muscles, this worsens throughout the day without the use of an ergonomically designed chair. This explains why many people who are at desks all day suffer from back and muscle pain.
A chair that is ergonomically designed goes beyond normal chair design to create the best possible comfort and shape for the human body. The problem with normal chairs is that an individual overloads his/her back or tightens their muscles until the point in which they increase physical and mental tensions. An ergonomic chair can also increase productivity by not causing more problems.
To summarize,
- A contoured seat back design gives the back the comfort and support that it needs. This contoured seat follows the natural curve of the back, thus adding natural support.
- BOSS makes seat backs of adjustable height to give to the back the comfort and support for varying heights.
- The BOSS design does not skimp on design. In order to offer total comfort, the foam of the seat and seat backing has a sufficient density to support the body’s weight uniformly besides being trimmed according to the human form.
- BOSS Ergonomic seats are designed to be lower in front. This important ergonomic characteristic helps with blood circulation in the legs.
- Adjustable Armrests, as mentioned before, aide in reducing tension on the muscles in the shoulders, neck and back by adjusting to different frame sizes.
- The different height and adjustable angle models of BOSS chairs are especially designed for comfort. The height adjustment of the gas piston in BOSS chairs allows you to change both the up and down position and angle of the seat throughout the day with a simple easy movement.
